Help us make Minnesota work for working people.
North Star Policy Action is an independent research and communications institute that is dedicated to improving the lives of everyday Minnesotans by advancing bold ideas that change the conversation and bring communities together. We develop and promote data-driven solutions to persistent problems that allow working people to thrive, no matter who they are or where they live.
We believe …
Minnesota should be a land of opportunity, where people can climb the ladder of economic success and have access to high quality jobs.
All people deserve high quality education and training opportunities in order to promote prosperity and build a better future.
We must act now to address climate change, maximize the benefits of the clean energy transition, and prioritize the needs of communities and workers during the transition.
Minnesota thrives when our institutions treat everyone fairly; people should be able to work together to solve challenges in their communities and their workplaces.
Jake Schwitzer has spent over a decade researching, creating, enacting, and defending public policies that improve the lives of working Minnesotans. He has been a grassroots organizer, communicator, and senior staffer to Senators Al Franken and Tina Smith. When he’s not thinking about how to improve government programs, you can find him biking with his wife and kids in the summer, or cheering for the Minnesota Timberwolves in the winter.
