Minnesota's Growing Clean Energy Economy

by | Apr 7, 2016 | Other

According to the latest Clean Jobs Midwest survey, Minnesota’s clean energy economy is substantial. We have over 54,000 clean jobs across the state, and jobs in this sector are projected to grow 4.4 percent in the next year.

Clean Jobs Midwest writes:

87% of the workforce are involved in energy efficiency, and 77% of the value chain is in installation jobs. Small businesses drive the clean energy sector in Minnesota, with nearly 80% of businesses employing fewer than 25 individuals.

The survey looks at three different sectors of clean jobs: energy efficiency jobs, renewable energy generation jobs, and other clean jobs. In Minnesota, HVAC makes up the largest portion of energy efficiency jobs at over 25,000. Renewable energy generation follows as the second largest clean energy job sector in Minnesota with over 5,000 jobs. Renewable energy includes solar, wind, geothermal, and bioenergy.

Below is a breakdown of clean energy jobs in Minnesota by sector.
